First Day Icebreaker

Apple Drawing

Students will each individually get a piece of paper.

They will be prompted to answer the questions, in writing: “Write down all the characteristics of an apple; taste, smell, look, etc.” and “Where are apples found – where do you see apples?” They need to write for an entire minute.

After students are finished writing they will need to flip their paper over and be instructed to simply “Draw a picture with an apple in it.” (Students should only be allowed 5-10 minutes to draw and color)

The goal of this short assignment is to first - see students’ drawing capabilities, and second - to stretch their imaginations and ways of thinking.
